A versatile herb offers health and good eating for those patient enough to pick its blooms. I know spring is just about to thaw us all out when violets (Viola odorata) show their blooms all over my flower beds and lawn. These beaufiful little purple and occasionally white flowers have spread everywhere around my property over the years, and it's a treat to walk around my pump house and enjoy the carpet of violets in bloom.
