Medicon Valley: one of Europe's strongest biotechnology clusters

Independent and objective external studies have found that the cross-border area between the Danish capital Copenhagen and the southern Swedish province of Skane is one of Europe's (and indeed the world's) best biotech clusters in several key areas. The criteria used to evaluate the region include the number and concentration of business/academic partnerships in the region, the impact of academic research and the extent of clinical support. Most importantly however it was found that the region's product pipeline is undergoing rapid expansion, and continues to exceed that of other European regions, which may numerically have more biotech companies. In this article we look at some of these aspects of Medicon Valley and take a sample of some of the innovative technologies being developed in the bioregion.
