摘要

Phosphorylation of specific amino acid residues of proteins in signalling cascades has been shown to exert several effects, including the modulation of enzyme catalytic activity, the regulation of the formation of multi-protein complexes, and the regulation of protein subcellular localisation. The elucidation of pathways leading to protein phosphorylation and its consequences is an active area of research in both the clinical and drug discovery arenas, as perturbations in signalling pathways are suspected of underlying many disease states including cancer, autoimmune diseases, and a variety of endocrine disorders.
