Monitoring 'live' cell concentrations in real-time using RF Impedance to optimise cell culture processes

For many cell culture applications, on-line and in situ probes are required to minimise the dependence on repeated sampling followed by off-line analysis. As well as being time-consuming, present off-line methods are also subject to human interpretation (e.g. microscopic cell counting and viability estimation) and the frequent sampling increases the risk of potential contamination. In addition, since these methods are very hands-on, only a limited number of measurements can be performed during normal shift hours.
