摘要

One of the things that makes growing camellias so enjoyable is the unexpected pleasant surprise. It ma> be the first pretty bloom on a new seedling, the discovery of a sport or mutation with attractive characteristics, or just a thriving grafting "take" of a scion that you didn't expect to make it. Or, in a rare occurrence, it can be the discovery of a variety that is so different that it's truly remarkable. Let me share an example of what I mean. It was at the end of the Christmas holidays in 2006.and Skip Vogelsang and 1 took a break from matching football games to check out the old Godwin camellia garden. Mr. Godwin had been a very active member of the Pensacola Men's Camellia Club in the 1960s, and had planted hundreds of camellias in a golf course setting, alongside the waters of Santa Rosa Sound.
