Not having water readily available, in sufficient quantity, and on a timely basis is one of the main reasons for failure of new Camellia Gardens and the downfall of many NEWBY Camel-lians. Newly planted Camellias require at least two waterings per week and they must be deep waterings. This requires a great deal of water for each plant and is very time consuming and very tedious to do by hand. Dragging water hoses about the landscape is not a fun or exciting sport so it is not done on a timely or willing basis and usually results in the protracted and unseemly death of newly planted "Japonicas".
