In his article on page 19, Master Hybridizer Dan Charvet describes his intra specific crosses with C. yunnanensis with the goal of producing fragrant camellias. In his 40 years of hybridizing camellias, Dan has developed very specific requirements that must be met before he considers any hybrid worth pursuing or to be successful. So it comes as no surprise that when the hybridizer set out to produce a fragrant camellia it had to be not only fragrant, it had to be a solid performer in the landscape as well. Factor in the incredible beauty of these new hybrids shown in the photographs with his article, and Dan will have a camellia that all will admire and want.
