摘要

The camellia is thought to have been introduced in Galicia (Northwest Spain) in the 18th century, by Spanish and Portuguese merchants. At first, these plants were only grown in manor houses and castles belonging to the Spanish nobility, since at thattime this plant was unaffordable for most people. However, mainly in the 20th century their culture spread, and now they can be seen in almost every public and private garden in our region. However, in the last years, the number of pests and diseases found on Camellia has gradually increased. This could be due mainly to the generalization of international trade in the last years, and the increasing exchange of plant material.
