The need for skilled manufacturing workers in the U.S. is on an upswing, according to a tracking survey of industry senior executives commissioned by Advanced Technology Services Inc. (ATS), Peoria, III., and conducted by The Nielsen Co. Among the top findings of the online survey of 100 VP-level and C-level executives, completed in August, are the following: Fifty-five percent of U.S. manufacturers with 1 billion dollars or more revenue surveyed will be hardest hit by skilled-worker shortages, costing each 100 million dollars or more over the next five years.
