Glossary of Terms Used in Toxicokinetics(IUPAC Recommendations 2003)

Within the framework of IUPAC Division VII,Chemistry and Human Health,the project to develop a "Glossary for Toxicokinetics of Chemicals"was initiated in 2001.Like many IUPAC bodies,the division is devoted to promoting world-wide "regulation,standardization,or codification"of relevant areas of chemistry.Over the years,toxicology and toxicokinetics have grown rapidly in importance.Lack of knowledge and confusion in the terminology currently used in the field of toxicokinetics constitute a problem for the development of the subject.Accordingly,the aim of the project was to compile definitions of the current terminology used in toxicokinetics,including,where relevant,information on chemical speciation,analytical methods,analytical equipment,and biological activity of chemicals.
