In a recent contribution, Happich and Muhlbacher [3] (hereafter HM) proposed an axiom called constant absolute tradeoff. This axiom says that the number of life-years that one is willing to give up in return for an improvement in the health state from any given level to another is independent of the initial number of remaining life-years.
