Public market financings in the first quarter of 2010 improved significantly over the same period last year, which was at the height of the economic crisis. Investors remain risk-averse, however, and while companies with promising late-stage clinicaldata and products near approval are having an easier time raising capital, access to capital is still difficult for earlier stage companies and start-ups. Venture capital is available, but the bar has been raised.
