The Contributing Membership program is now the Corporate Membership program, and while the name has changed, the program still offers organizations the opportunity to partner with the world's premier society for electrochemistry and solid-state science. For over sixty years, international companies, institutes, government agencies, universities, and a few individuals have financially supported the goals and objectives of The Electrochemical Society through this membership, and in return received significant benefits that enhance their ability to succeed in a competitive marketplace. The name change is only one of the many upgrades the Corporate Membership program has enjoyed over the past couple of years. Numerous new membership benefits, such as online access to technical journals and the Leadership Circle Award, are direct results of an aggressive Society campaign begun prior to the Centennial Meeting in May of 2002 to survey corporate members and companies to determine their needs and to learn how The Electrochemical Society can meet those needs.
