Due to various citrus crop impacts caused by hurricanes in recent years, much uncertainty remains about expectations for the upcoming season's citrus crop forecast. Growers, traders and others throughout the citrus industry will be tuned in for the official crop forecast from USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA/NASS), to be released at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) Thursday, Oct. 12. The correlation between crop forecasts, crop values, futures market impact and product demand make timely crop forecast information valuable to the entire citrus community, especially citrus growers. The 8:30 a.m. release could again have an important influence on FCOJ futures market activity the same day.
