The market share for violas continues to rise

In early November in Amsterdam, Sakata's recently introduced viola series Venus provided the colour in the planters around the entrance to the Hortifair exhibition halls. At the company's trials 25km away, in Roelofarendsveeen, the same series impressed scores of visitors over the five days of the giant trade fair writes John Sution. Despite the dearth of bedding plants at Hortifair itself, there was no shortage of early November opportunities to see pansies and violas in Holland. Six companies included them in their trials. Invitations went out to growers from Goldsmith Seeds, Hem Genetics and Kieft Seeds in the Enkhuizen area, and from Takii Seeds near Aalsmeer. PanAmerican Seeds featured them as leading items in a wide-ranging display at their premises in Rijsenhout.
