Economical energy use continues to be a priority for glasshouse growers, not only to make sure money-saving Climate Change Levy targets are met but also to peg costs as much as possible. "The whole energy market is currently highly volatile," says TimPratt, technical director at energy consultants FEC Services. "That makes investment decisions very difficult. Long term, you can only expect fuel prices to go up." That's why HOC has been helping growers to develop and implement new techniques, such as temperature integration, and to make the most of what sophisticated climate control computers can offer.
