Olin reports improved volumes

Olin (Clayton, Missouri), still in its first year after merging with Dow Chemical’s chlor-alkali and vinyls business in October 2015, reports third-quarter net income of $17.5 million, up from a loss of $1 million in the second quarter. Sales totaled $1.453 billion, up 6.5% from the second quarter. Adjusted net earnings per share of $0.33 equaled the consensus forecast. Earnings in the chlor-alkali products and vinyls segment totaled $53.7 million, up 75% from the second quarter, on sales of $779.4 million, up 6.3%.
