Modified Orbital Atomic Theory Calculations of High Lying Rydberg Series in the Photoionization Spectra of Ne+

We investigate in this paper resonances of the 2s(2)2p(4)(D-1(2))ns, nd, 2s(2)2p(4)(S-1(0))ns, nd, and 2s(2)p(5)(P-3(2))np series originating from both the 2s(2)2p(5) P-2(1/2) metastable and 2s(2)2p(5) P-2(3/2) ground state of Ne+ using the modified orbital atomic theory (MAOT). For these state levels, the binding energies are tabulated up to n = 40. The results obtained agree very well with the available experimental Ne+ data [Covington et al., Phys. Rev. A 66, 062710 (2002)]. The analysis of the present results is achieved by calculating the effective charge number in the framework of the MAOT formalism and by evaluating the quantum defect from the standard quantum defect expansion formula. Both the effective nuclear charge and quantum defect are almost constants up to n = 40.
