Berosus fulvus (Kuwert) (Hydrophilidae) at Orford Ness NNR, Suffolk (VC 25)

The 16km long spit of Orford Ness (TM44-TM45), in East Suffolk, is one of the most important shingle features in Europe. The shingle forms the seaward, eastern side to the site, and on the western Alde-Ore river estuary side, there are a number of coastal marshes behind high clay banks, criss-crossed by ditches and numerous ponds and lagoons. The site is of very high conservation importance and has a series of national and international designations (SSSI, NNR, SAC, SPA, Ramsar).
