A Derbyshire record of Philorhizus notatus (Stephens) (Carabidae)

Whilst carrying out survey work for a Natural England SSSI project, I collected a specimen of Philorhizus notatus (Stephens) by sieving moss in short sward grassland on the upper slopes of Lathkill Dale NNR (SK166660) on June 11, 2013. This species is usually associated with dune systems at the coast, although Luff (1998) shows a scattering of inland records with most of these twenty-five or so localities, in the north of England and north Midlands. Luff (1998) also states that this species is.usually wingless, as is the Derbyshire specimen.
