Phaedon concinnus Stephens (Chrysomelidae) in Ireland

Phaedon concinnus Stephens is described by Cox (1991) as the least common and most local of the British Phaedon species. It is found in coastal saltmarshes where it feeds on arrow grass Triglochin maritima, and possibly scurvy grass Cochlearia spp. Although Cox (1991) states that it occurs on the coasts of Ireland, there is little evidence to support this. The database of the Chrysomelidae and Bruchidae Recording Scheme contains a single record by "RAA" for the Shannon Estuary dated 1925 (Dave Hubble, pers. comm.). There are two problems with this. A supporting voucher has not been located and the name RAA cannot be identified. It could be a typographical error for RAP standing for R.A. Phillips who certainly collected in the Shannon area around that time.
