Magdalis phlegmatica (Herbst) (Curculionidae) in North West England, new to VC 60 and VC 69

Magdalis phlegmatica (Herbst) is described by Morris (2002) as being found on Pinus sylvestris in old pinewoods and less frequently in coniferous plantations. Most of the records are from the Caledonian Forest remnants in the Scottish Highlands, though there are records on NBN Gateway from Northumberland, Mid-west Yorkshire and northern Cumberland. Tullie House Museum, Carlisle has records of several specimens collected from Orton, Orton Grange and Kirkbampton in the Carlisle area between 1907 and 1943, mainly by F.H. Day. These records are all from VC 70.
