Xylostiba bosnica (Bernhauer) (Staphylinidae)) in County Durham (VC 66)

Allen & Booth (2005) added Xylostiba bosnica (Bernhauer) to the British list on the basis of specimens from Windsor and cited a record from Stretton-under-Fosse, Warwickshire that went back to 1999 (Lane, Wright & Forsythe, 2002). On 9 October 2009 I obtained three specimens by sieving oyster fungus Pleurotus fruit bodies which were attached to a dead standing sycamore tree in Castle Eden Dene, near Peterlee, County Durham (NZ4439). This represents a considerable northwards extension of its known range.
