Scolytus rugulosus (Muller) (Scolytidae) new to Ireland

A single example of Scolytus rugulosus (Muller) was beaten from an old apple tree Malus in an orchard at Inisherk Island, Crom Estate, Co. Fermanagh, H357241 on 24 May 2009. This appears to represent the first reported occurrence of this species in Ireland – it is not listed in Anderson et al. (1997) and Dr Roy Anderson (pers. comm.) reports that he is unaware of any subsequent Irish records.
