WAITING until the last possible moment, BP has sued Transocean, Cameron and Halliburton over their roles in the Deepwater Horizon disaster. The statutory deadline for any claims fell on 20 April, the one-year anniversary of the accident that claimed 11 lives, spilt 5.9m bbl of oil into the Gulf of Mexico and devastated whatever confidence the public had in the drilling industry. The three suits filed by BP will determine who has to pay the billions owed in compensation as a result of the explosion and oil spill.
