Bayer CropScience settles with rice farmers

BAYER CROPSCIENCE will pay out S750m to thousands of US farmers who claim their crops were contaminated by a strain of genetically modified rice. The company has been embroiled in the case since mid-2006. Roughly 11.000 growers say that they lost millions of dollars when the US Agriculture Department discovered trace amounts of an experimental strain of long-grain rice in their crops.
