Regulators set to investigate a whole class of painkilling drugs after high profile withdrawals The US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency are to investigate the cox-2 inhibitor class of painkiller,following the withdrawal earlier this month of Vioxx by its manufacturer Merck & Co.Other high profile drugs in the same class,such as Bextra,Celebrex and Arcoxia,have also been called into question by recent studies.
