Glaxosmithkline has settled a lawsuit brought by the New York Attorney General's office regarding the use of its antidepressant Paxil by adolescents,but is now facing a class action suit brought by angry American parents.The UK drugs group said it had agreed to pay US2.5m to avoid the high costs and time required to defend the charges,brought by NY attorney general Elliot Spitzer,that it withheld negative information concerning the use of Paxil,also known as Seroxat,by adolescents.
