Ireland's Warner Chilcott buys P&G's pharma business

THE Irish pharmaceuticals firm Warner Chilcott has agreed to buy the pharmaceuticals business of consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble for $3.1b. P&G's pharma business produces a number of prescription medicines, including osteoporosis treatment Actonel. Most of the business' 2300 employees will simply be transferred to Warner Chilcott. Also included in the sale are P&G's prescription drug product pipeline and manufacturing facilities in Puerto Rico and Germany.
