Tips for surviving the GMC Quality Assurance of Basic Medical Education Procedures

The General Medical Council's (GMC) Education Committee has a statutory duty (Medical Act 1983) to set and maintain the standards of basic medical education and can, at worst, make recommendations to the Privy Council about whether a university should be removed from the list of institutions that can award a medical degree (Section 9 of the Act). The Royal Free and University College Medical School was in the first cohort of five established schools to be inspected under the GMC's new quality assurance mechanisms for basic medical education (QABME).
