Editorial: Thoughts from an Editor's diary: a six-year experience

The role of the Editor of the British and Irish Orthoptic Journal is to ensure annual publication of the journal. The Editor is responsible for maintaining the standard and quality of the journal's content and is proactive in the development of the journal. The task includes encouraging submissions, organising the peer review process, editing, and communicating with the copy-editor. The copy-editor ensures that the articles meet the style of the journal and are ready for conversion into print form. She liaises with the printers, proofreads and circulates the 'printed proofs' of the papers to authors and the Editor at the final stages of the printing process.
