STORC helps deliver healthy babies: the telemedicine program that serves rural women with high-risk pregnancies.

Tennessee has recorded one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the nation, but now there is a telemedicine program underway that is helping mothers and infants in some of the most hard-to-reach areas of the state. The project is called the Solutions to Obstetrics in Rural Counties (STORC) and is improving high-risk pregnancy outcomes in rural Tennessee. "We have traditional care delivery and a telemedicine component that allows for a very high level of care to be delivered to areas that otherwise would not have it," says David Adair, M.D., chief executive officer of Regional Obstetrical Consultants in Chattanooga and founding physician of the STORC project.
