Diode laser interferometer for absolute distance measurement

For the measurement of long distances absolute distance interferometers are uncommon in practical applications. The advantages do not outweigh the costs in many applications. We present an absolute measuring interferometer with reduced demands on the laser, the length reference and the environmental conditions. The measuring principle, the components, and investigations of the measurement uncertainty are described.
