Solvay achieved a 79% increase in its net income, group share, for the fourth quarter of 2012, to ?203 million ($273 million) from ?184 million in the fourth quarter a year before, the company announced today. Ebit also went up by 78%, to ?349 million from ?196 million over the same period. Net sales increased to ?2.99 billion, up 4% from the ?2.87 billion reported in the fourth quarter of 2011. Improvements were reported in the company's three sectors against a year-earlier performance that was impacted by prioritizing cash generation amid severe end-of-year destocking, the company says.
