BASF says it will expand cyclohexane oxidation capacity at its Antwerp site by about 50,000 m.t./year. The total amount of the investment will be approximately ?10 million ($13 million), the company says. The expansion will take place during two long-term planned turnarounds, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, the company says. The total capacity for cyclohexane at BASF’s Antwerp site was not disclosed. The project will increase further the backward integration of the nylon value chain at Antwerp, BASF says.
