Invista and LanzaTech to Produce Butadiene from Waste Carbon Monoxide

Invista says it has signed a joint development agreement with Chicago-based LanzaTech for the production of butadiene using LanzaTech's gas fermentation technology. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. LanzaTech and Invista, a major consumer of butadiene for nylon 6,6 production, will initially focus on converting 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BDO) produced by LanzaTech's process technology into butadiene. Commercialization is expected in 2016.
