Foster Wheeler Gets MEG Contract

Foster Wheeler says it has been awarded a contract by Shell Global Solutions International to develop the basic engineering package for a previously announced monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant, which will be built in a joint venture with Qatar Petroleum (QP) at Ras Laffan, Qatar. The two-train MEG facility, based on Shell's Omega technology, is expected to produce 1.5 million m.t./year. QP and Shell announced in July that they are progressing the multibillion-dollar project to front-end engineering design (FEED), following a heads of agreement signed by the partners in December.
