KOGAS to construct Iran to Oman pipeline

Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) is reportedly considering a project to construct a pipeline to transport natural gas from Iran to Oman. The pipeline would be approximately 400 km in length, with a 200-km onshore section between Rudan to Mobarak Mount in the southern Hormozgan province in Iran, and a 200-km offshore section onwatds to Sohar Port in Oman. Local news sources have reported that KOGAS could sign a memorandum of understanding or a framework agreement for the US$1.5 billion project with project partners before June. The news sources also reported that feasibility studies for the offshore section of the pipeline are expected to be complete by mid-2016.
