Like most woodworkers, I didn't suddenly acquire a workshop full of machines. I started out with a workbench and a tablesaw and added a new machine when the need for it could be satisfied by the amount of money available.Each machine changed the work I was able to do, but in retrospect, it was the thicknesser/planer that most changed the way in which I was able to work. Instead of being reliant upon suppliers to mill timber for me, I began buying rough sawn stock and started to look for found and reclaimed timber to reduce my overall costs.
