China's State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) says it plans to introduce new legislation to prevent hazardous chemicals exposure. State Decree 591, as it is known, will involve a new body of legis- lation named "Regulation on the Safe Management of Dangerous Chemicals." The regulation is "very wide ranging in scope and 'sets the tone' for future chemicals legislation," SAWS says in a recent statement. The legislation will feature general rules on the classifi- cation and hazard communication of chemicals, as well as rules on "precautionary labeling."
