Petrobras to Build Several Nitrogen Fertilizer Plants

Petrobras has received planning permission to build a previously announced fertilizer complex at Tres Lagoas, Brazil. The plant will be designed to produce 800,000 m.t./year of ammonia and 1.2 million m.t./year of urea. KBR has been awarded a contract to supply the ammonia plant. The complex is one of four nitrogen fertilizer facilities that state-owned Petrobras is planning, as part of a Brazilian government initiative to reduce the country's dependency on imports.
