摘要

Most of those who sculpt wood with a chainsaw content themselves with shaping the outside of a log. In contrast, David Stewart of The Ancient Kauri Kingdom, (Awanui, NZ) spent nearly three months sculpting the inside. That's not, however, the only feature of this project which makes it unique. For some years, David and Bev Stewart had been engaged in recovering and milling the ancient Kauri stumps and (occasionally) tree trunks which have lain buried in the area for more than 45,000 years. It appears that a whole forest of these magnificent pines were felled by an unknown natural disaster.
