Two new Design Awards were announced at the launch of the 2002 Australian Design Awards at Object Gallery in Sydney last month. British Consul-General, Peter Beckingham and Director of Sydney's Powerhouse Museum, Dr Kevin Fewster, were among official guests at the launch to hear the announcement of the two new categories in Australia's only national design awards program.The event drew more than 100 of Australia's top designers including Dr Robert Dane, designer of the Solar Sailor ferry which took out the top design industry accolade in 2001 and Rod Hunwick, mastermind behind Australia's first designed and manufactured motorcycle-the Hunwick Harrop 1500 Phantom - another 2001 Australian Design Award~(TM) winner.
