EU Outlines Plans to Tighten Emissions-Trading Security

The European Commission has outlined a series of actions to strengthen the integrity of the European carbon market following a series of cyber thefts from several European Union (EU) emissions trading system (ETS) registries last month. The proposals are due to be discussed today by the EU climate change committee. Short-term proposals include regular reviews and updates of registry security plans, and a review and strengthening of policies concerning the opening of registry accounts.
