Nalco Reports Strong Sales and Profits; Raises Full-Year Outlook

Nalco Holdings reported third-quarter 2011 net income up 30%, to $78.7 million, on sales up 15% to $1.25 billion, due to strong sales and profits across all regions. Earnings per share were 55 cts, ahead of analyst estimates of 46 cts/share as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Nalco raised its 2011 guidance, citing strong sales growth and improv- ing margins as price increases continue to take effect. Full year Ebitda is now forecast at $175 million, from $170 million earlier this year, and full-year EPS to $1.75/share, from $1.70/share. Ecolab recently reached a deal to acquire Nalco for $5.38 billion, and the deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
