摘要

Georgia Gulf has declared force majeure on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) due to reduced ethylene supply and reduced operating rates for chlorine at its production facility at Plaquemine, LA. The company expects PVC ship- ments to be impacted for the next few months. "The reduced ethylene supply is the result of a force majeure declared by a major supplier that significantly impacted our ability to procure this essential ingredi- ent for producing PVC," says Joseph Breunig, executive v.p./chemicals at Georgia Gulf. Georgia Gulf did not name the ethylene supplier, but Shell Chemicals recently declared force majeure at the end of March, putting customers on 90% allocation until May.
