A passion for Poll Herefords: Decades have passed, ownership has changed and the industry has developed. Yet one Queensland family is continuing to produce quality beef with whiteface cattle
The Gilmour family is well known around Miles on Queensland's Western Darling Downs where, for 7C years, they have run Poll Hereford cattle on grazing land taken up almost three decades earlier. Gordon and Reg Gilmour have inherited their 74-year-oldfather Paul's (and other forbear's) passion for producing quality Poll Herefords but perhaps the family's most valuable legacy is its ability to endure the proverbial tests of time. The current drought however, both extended and severe in its intensity, has provided its fair share of testing criteria, but family members are responding as best they can to its demands.
