Sipchem Signs Deals with Rhodia for Ethyl Acetate Project

Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) and Rhodia have signed agreements for a project to build an ethyl acetate plant at Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The plant will have capacity for 100,000 m.t./year and be designed as a swing facility with capability also to produce butyl acetate. Commissioning of the plant is expected in 2013. The project will cost SR400 million, local reports say. The agreements cover licensing of Rhodia's ethyl acetate technology; a marketing accord; and a term sheet for procurement of ethanol feedstock.
