Bayer CropScience and Syngenta Codevelop Herbicide with Alternative Mode of Action

Bayer CropScience and Syngenta say they are codeveloping a soybean that is resistant to p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) her- bicides. The planned product would be a new tool for combating weed resistance, the companies say. The engineered HPPD herbicide-resistant soybean is in early development, with launch in North America expected in the second half of the decade. HPPD is an enzyme in plants.
