KMG Chemicals reported net income of $4 million for its fiscal second quarter ended January 31, a more than four-fold increase over the same period last year. Sales rose 2%, to $45.1 million. "Our elec- tronic chemicals business maintained strong sales, approximately those of the previous quarter, despite the slowdown typical of the holiday season," says KMG president and CEO Neal Butler. Wood treating chemicals "performed well" in the second quarter, although lower customer demand in the utility pole and rail tie markets led to declines in creosote and pentachlorophenol sales volumes.
